World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Day

We are raising awareness for COPD!

NOVEMBER IS COPD AWARENESS MONTH, WITH THE 16TH  BEING WORLD COPD DAY (ALSO WORLD CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE DAY).

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one the most spread diseases around the world. According to WHO estimates, about 210 million people around the world suffer COPD. Many people risk to catch the disease, exposing themselves with the main risk factors, including smoking, air pollution, dust and chemicals.

COPD is an umbrella term which cover the “irreversible” aspect of chronic bronchitis, emphysema and asthma.

Physiotherapy can play a big part in the management of COPD.  Some benefits of Exercise include:

Improves your ability to do every day activities

Improves the strength of your bones

improves the strength of your breathing muscles

improves the strength of your heart, and improves circulation
